Marvelous Math!

Our fourth graders are working hard learning and using math strategies to solve a variety of problems. One area I have noticed that they can struggle is in explaining their thinking and in using good math vocabulary. Some students also struggle to learn the right steps to solve a problem, so we came up with the idea of creating our own math channel on Vimeo to help us.

The students met in small groups to discuss the kinds of problems we should make videos of.

Then they wrote out how they would solve and talk about the problems.

They practiced and practiced...

until they came up with videos like this:

Come visit the Room 12 Math Channel to learn more great ways of solving math problems!

  1. Dear Mr. Pahl,
Doing the videos is was a great idea because we were practicing and practicing and that makes us think about more of the math we know and for us to share our thinking and to share how we solved the problem then other people who don’t know how to solve it they can look on Vimeo!

  6. Dear 4th graders,
I think doing this project was a great idea because people who don’t know how to do math problems can learn from us. We made videos about math strategies and how to do math problems. We worked really hard on this project and it paid off, teachers and student must be proud because maybe they don’t know these things and we taught them.

  14. Dear 4th grade,
I am glad that kids are learning to do math. The fun way kids can learn easier is online because kids can find many different ways online like math science and lots more.
