### Metric Measurement

Here is an introduction to Metric Measurement from Mammoth School:

Please comment! What unit of METRIC measure would I use to measure these objects:

The length of this pencil eraser?

The length of this hallway?

The height of this shelf?

The width of this piece of tape?

The length and width of this pencil box?

The length of this sidewalk or shadow?

1. Dear Mr. Pahl
I love this way to measure. I wouldn't have known the metric system without you. I would have only known of the standard measurement. It was a pleasure of you to teach me the metric system!
From Eli.

1. Dear Eli,
I agree with you. I wouldn't have known about the metric system without Mr. Pahl either. I love that way to measure also.
Sincerely: Mattias

2. Dear Mr. Pahl,

For the pencil eraser, I would measure it in millimeters and same with the width of the piece of tape. As for the height of the math shelf and Yolibeth’s pencil box I would use centimeters. For the last two things (the length of the shadow and the hallway) I would measure in meters. I don’t think any of the other things are big enough to be in kilometers.

Sincerely, Miranda

1. Miranda, good thinking! You're right. I didn't put any pictures of something that would be measured in kilometers. What would I need pictures of? In other words, what kinds of things do we measure with kilometers?
Mr. Pahl

3. Dear Mr.Pahl,
I really Enjoy the metric system from the one day I have been doing it. It is a lot of fun.
From,
Tori

1. Tori, that's terrific! I'm glad you like it. I find it really interesting because we don't normally use the metric system. It seems so much easier though. I don't know why the United States hasn't adopted it like so many other countries have.
From,
Mr. Pahl

4. Dear Eli,
I agree with you. The am and pm classes would have never ever gotten this far without Mr. Pahl Also, I like the way he measures.

From,
Sebastian R

5. Dear Mr. Pahl,
I think I would measure the pencil eraser with millimeters. The hallway meters , the tape probably millimeters too. Last of all the shadow or the sidewalk I would choose meters.
Sincerely Sarah. H
