  1. Mr Pahl,

I am so impressed how you integrate technology into your curriculum. In your posted videos, the students seem engaged and eager to learn. From what I read in the article, you are following the recipe for success. The children are learning from and interacting with a teacher who is tech savvy.

Thank your for being such an great teacher!

    1. Hi Jen,

Thank you so much for the compliment. That's what it is all about, I think. If I expect students to learn, I have an obligation to create an environment for that to happen in fun and interesting ways. It is exciting for me to see the students so engaged in what we do.

      Take care,
      Mr. Pahl

  2. Hallie told me *I* had homework tonight. That if I didn't comment, she'd have to miss recess tomorrow... interesting tactic, though I'm not sure I agree with the method. ;)

    1. Hi Hillary,

I am really sorry Hallie misunderstood. It's great to see you here on the blog, but Hallie's recess time was not in jeopardy.

      Thank you,
      Mr. Pahl

  3. Dear Mr. Pahl,
Linnea has used technology more this year than any other year at Sunnyland. I appreciate the students being able to have individual and personalized feedback. Which websites have you found most useful in your teaching?

    1. Dear Kori,

Thank you very much for your thoughtful comment. Linnea seems to enjoy "techie" time. I'm happy to know she is learning more avenues to express her creativity. As for websites I use, there are many."Free Technology For Teachers," "Edutopia," and a blog by a woman named Martha Thornburgh help me stay on top of ways teachers are incorporating technology into their classrooms. I also frequently visit the class blogs we have linked to our site for ideas. As a member of Northwest Council for Computers in Education, I regularly receive articles and information about technology in education.

As for other sites, I think Sumdog, Spelling City, and Khan Academy are good for practicing and improving on basic skills. Khan Academy is also a great resource for learning just about anything. Scholastic is a terrific site for all things literacy.

I try to stay on top of news and trends in education by reading a variety of sources. I often get e-mails or Facebook messages from friends and other teachers that link to articles or news stories about education. I read those as much as I can, but it's tough to stay on top of all that.

      Thanks again for asking.
      Mr. Pahl
