Lost in Space

The class recently began studying space science with a focus on the Earth, its moon, and our sun. Getting through a lesson was incredibly difficult because the class has so many questions about space. In order to establish some common understandings and point us in a clear direction, we had a science period devoted to some art and question creation. We will revisit the questions throughout the unit to share students' learning and increasing understanding of our planet and the solar system.

Here is what students came up with!

Please comment! What are questions you have about space or what are some things you have learned about space?

  1. Dear Mr. Pahl,
My question on space is one of the ones in your video. It is how big is space. I think that that question will never be answered.

  2. Dear Mr.Pahl,
Do you think there is life on any other planets besides Earth?
    What exactly are meteorites?
Do you think we’ll make any more videos about space?

    Sincerely,

  3. Dear Mr. Pahl,
The space science we have been doing is very interesting. I wonder if can people live on the moon?

  4. Dear class,
In the space show there was picture that said “Who is the first person on the moon?” his name is Neal Armstrong.I remember that there was a picture of apples falling off a tree that was cool because that was gravity!.

  5. Dear Mr. Pahl and class,
I think it is really cool that we got to put that awesome video on our blog. I really like the feeling that it is on the computer. To me it feels like it is on a commercial on TV.

    Sincerely,
    Savannah

  8. Dear Mr. Pahl,
I have a question about Space, Does the earth stay in one spot? I know the moon is drifting away more and more, but does the earth drift away like the moon?

  9. Dear Mr. Pahl
In the space show there was a picture that said why are the planets circles? I think it’s because the planets circle each other. So that’s why I think they’re circle.

  10. Dear Mr. Pahl, I wonder if there is another planet out there in space. Do you know anyone who been in space? Do you want to go in space? I love learning stuff in space like what stars are made of, how did the earth became, and is there life on Pluto? Do you think there is a flat planet? Who knows, there might be.

    Sincerely, Kathy

  11. Dear Class,

I have learned that the Earth is almost three quarters covered in water! That`s more than half way covered! But I also wonder how the water got there From,

  12. Dear Mr. Pahl,

I know what stars are made of. They are basically big exploding balls of gas, mostly hydrogen and helium. Do you know black holes are just a collapsed star? Stars that explode are called supernovas. They are very rare and very bright.
    A student in your class,

    Sara

  13. Dear Mr. Pahl , I was wondering if there was life on mars? Will any planets ever blow up like us?

  14. Dear Mr. Pahl, I have many questions about space. Here are some of them: 1.How many universes are there? 2. Is there gravity on all planets? 3. Why is earth the only planet with life? 4. Are we, on earth, the only life out of every planet in the universe?

    Sincerely,
    Ashley G.
