What Did You Do This Weekend?

Sarah inspired me to make this video about my family's trip to the Nooksack River off Mosquito Lake Road to look for eagles and salmon. We live in such a beautiful place, don't we?

Well, what did you do this weekend?

  1. Dear Mr. Pahl,
This weekend I drove to a movie called “Monuments Men.” I went with my step-dad Paul and my mom Christine. Also this weekend I watched the Olympics on my TV. I enjoy watching the figure skating. I dance with the music in my living room. The next day on Sunday I went to church with my mom. We read Ephesians 1:1 – 2:1. Then in Sunday school we practiced for an event at my church on the 23rd I think. I have the music that I practice as homework a lot. After church Charlize and I video chatted on Skype. I had been on Facebook for most of the day. Then my Mom and I went and got my nana from the bus station because she just got back from Yakima. We took her home then we had gone home and watched more of the Olympics. I had a really good time this weekend. What did you do this weekend?

    1. Hi Asher,

I haven't seen Once Upon A Time. Is it a movie or a TV show? It's great that were able to do art. I like to color with Luna and Grace. Sometimes we paint, too. What kind of art did you do?

    1. Hi Danny,

Yes, I love it there! My daughters, Luna and Grace, had a lot of fun, too. They liked the eagles but I think they enjoyed throwing rocks in the river more than anything. They had a contest to see who could make the biggest splash!

Thanks for writing. Your dad gets to go to Washington, DC? That sounds like fun. It is a wonderful city. Do you get to visit him there? I hope he isn't gone too long. Oh, you are going to love the Khan Academy. There are a TON of great math and computer science activities.

No I do not get to visit him but he does send videos. The snow there was 2 feet deep and it only took an hour. I hope he comes back soon.

I had the same experience recently. We took the girls to see Frozen, but Grace, who is only 2, couldn't sit still that long. How did you like the movie? I am thinking of going to see it.

That really looks fun I hope I can go there someday. What I did this weekend was make cupcakes with my cousin for my little sister’s birth day. Everyone loved the cupcakes, but I think we could have done better with decorating.

  9. Dear Mr. Pahl,
What I did this weekend was, my family drove to my dad’s Friends house for the weekend. My dad’s friend is Mike. My dad Todd donated a kidney to Mike. If my dad didn’t donate a kidney Mike would have died. I would have felt sad if Mike died. But at Mike’s house we ate an early thanksgiving dinner. It was actually his parents’ house. It was a scrumptious dinner. We all ate turkey, strawberries, and stuffing. Also don’t forget the rolls. The condo had an air hockey table. My mom and I also my dad played air hockey. There were different shapes of the puck. It was absolutely fantastic!
    Sincerely, Eli

    1. Hi Eli!

This is so incredibly nice of your dad. I bet you feel really proud of him and maybe a little scared. I hope the surgery went well and that your dad and Mike are feeling better soon. I have a friend who needs a kidney, too. I hope he can find a good donor soon. It sounds like you had a great time even though everyone must have been feeling a little tense. Please let me know if your family needs anything while your dad is recuperating.

  11. Dear Mr. Pahl,
This weekend my mom had to baby set my younger cuisines. When my uncle came to pick up my cuisines he told them to put on their shoes. While they were putting on their shoes my uncle walked outside for a minute. Then he whispered Megan, Kayden look there’s four deer right down stairs. So we got up and walked outside. We looked for a minute then my uncle said lets go chase them. Then we all ran inside, put on our jackets and ran down the stairs. We stated to chase them but then they looked like they were going to kick use so we ran inside.

What an adventure! Were the dear all adults or did some of them look like babies? A mama and her baby used to come eat the blackberry bush near my house all the time but I haven't seen them in a long time. Our dog may have scared them off.

    2. Dear Kayden,

What an amazing experience! In the few times I have been able to be up close and personal with deer I felt so lucky. One of my favorite things to do when I am around wildlife is to see how long I can be close to them. Sometimes I even try to blend in with my environment or camouflage myself. This way I can watch how they interact with each other.
What did you notice about what the deer were doing?

This weekend I saw the new movie “Son of God.” I really liked it. I saw it with my Mom Christine, My step-dad Paul, and my nana Dianne. We all really enjoyed it. It’s about the rising of Jesus dyeing on the cross. I really liked the movie because I knew a lot of the scripture. I even called John 1:1 before my step –dad (Who reads the bible at work all the time.)

  18. Dear Mr. Pahl,
Some of the deer looked like babies and some looked kind of in the middle. That was probably the first time I have seen that many deer that close up. Usually I don’t see many deer back behind my house.
