Hour of Code Kickoff - It's a Hit!

Students were revved up by President Obama

and astronauts at the International Space Station

and then The Hour of Code erupted into problem solving, critical thinking, team work, and...FUN!

Ready. Set. Go!

Hayden and Vanessa working as a team.

Brian is giving some useful advice.

"Wait, how'd you do that?"

Liam and Hayden are trying another strategy.

Sarah is SO into this!

Sarah is using her body to make sure she enters the right instructions. Great strategy!

Avari is helping out. Way to go!

Mike thinks Hour of Code rocks!

Please comment! What was the best part of the Hour of Code?
What did you learn?
What do you want to do next?

  1. Dear Viewers,
I think the best part of the hour of code was the ways on how to solve it. It’s also tricky and it makes you think harder on how to solve it in a limited amount of moves.
    Sincerely

    1. Dear Izabelle,
I agree with you, the best part is solving it! The bird and the zombie tells you to do the least possible moves. It’s a good thing that there were videos before we solved it. Hopefully, the game inspires people to be in the Hour of Code or at least go to, code.org.

  2. Dear Mr. Pahl

I am very excited to do the scratch codes. I really liked doing the other codes and figuring out which way to go (as you saw in the video). I am glad to do more of the codes and do something new and participate in something so huge.

I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Sometimes activities like coding are challenging, but if we think of it as a kind of game, it can be a fun challenge, right? You did a great job hanging in there and trying out different strategies until you were successful.Nice work.

The hour of code helps we learn to make like websites and other kinds of technology apps in the future or now! And like president Obama said that we need young computer scientists like us. And make a video game do not buy one. If there is a button on the computer that says repeat use it instead of doing it over and over again.

My favorite part of the hour of code was that you can’t just do random things and then say “Okay this doesn’t work.” You have to find different strategies to use to solve a puzzle. What was your most challenging level? What was the easiest beside the first 5 levels? My most challenging was level 17, and the easiest was level 12.
